freakn` Miami...

All in all the this Miami job has been a pain in the ass! and has totally messed with JT's proposed training. I say that because I have not been able to get as much training as I planned and the hours that these guys work are totally crazy. Really there is some down time during the day but not enough to doing anything with so I will call it "wasted" time. Then there are not into eating proper meals, such as Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner.. its more like coffee and Dinner, usually some fried or totally crap food.. I just don't get how they function all day on food like that. Good thing for me is that I have been very admit about eating and eating healthily which I know has been a pain in there ass but oh well.

As for training, I have been able to get a couple of runs in, today was 7 miles with the first 3.85 straight into the wind which totally sucked! Then it was slow walking on the beach, taking a few pictures and then washing the sand off the feet and getting back to running down the beach sidewalk. Although I did not eat too much pre-run, I was not pretty damn hungry and for some damn reason my quads giving out on me and I could feel soreness already occurring but then again maybe it was the 8-10 Corona's that I drank last night, HA! It was a great run down the Ft. Lauderdale Beach.

This week will be interesting and can't wait till Friday to get da fuk outta here! And now they want me to come back after Christmas and stay till Jan 31. which is totally not going to happen. I had said another 2 weeks but I need some training time, rental car and basic stuff so I still have to discuss that and if they can't make it happen then I won't come back and if that is What My Job is now supposed to be, then I might be lookin` for a new one! As I have to make priorities for getting my training in.. wild huh..

Only in Vegas..

as this will be said many times.. but this weekend with the NM. Outlaws was a total Blast and I say you all need to make plans for next years Santa Smack Down run and Elvis Vegas run!

Saturday morning was a nice cool morning, a little windy but the Santa's were out to set the World Record, Only in Vegas! Overall my run was great, expect my HR was totally off the charts but Baboo quickly let me know it was due to coming off the recent illness. And Bigun` you better hope that Baboo puts on some pounds for CdA, although, I don't really see that happening, cuz dat's da only thing that's gonna Slow that Clyds. down. He is a great runner! but we did hit the IHOP after Santa run.

Sunday morning the Elvis were up and dressed and ready to go. We got the race site and they quickly met up with there fellow Elvi and this was the last time I saw them as I had to get ready to run myself. Once at the starting line I creeped my way up as I remember last year it took like 10 mins to get to the start line and this year.. 3 mins! Nice seeding JT!!
<
It didn't take long for things to heat up and I had to take a couple of shirts off and things were going along nicely. They run thru Wedding by the Elvi was not to be missed, Only in Vegas, right! The course was much better than last year although once the half's and fulls split the aid stations were manned by one poor sucker trying to throw water in a Dixie cup at lightning speed as the runners came through. So note to RD, more volunteers for the Half's aid stations.

At mile 8 something was in my right shoe so I quickly stopped to dump it out only to find there was nothing in there. So I ran just a little more and then realized it was a blister forming from my sock! Damn it! So I tried sticking my glove in the shoe but this worked for like 20 yards as it made my foot all unbalanced and was just not comfortable. So after about another mile of running it was really bothering and at the 9ish mark I knew I had to fix it, so I looked around for something I could use and I found an empty gel pak. Whipped off the sock and shoe, placed that gel pak on my inside arch, sock back on, shoe on and BAM! fixed! nice..

Now I was attempting to negative split my second half and I was somewhat close but the shoe thing slowed me down and then I started going down, down, down.. after mile 11.. Shit!! WTF.. I said.. I feel I have energy.. but remembering back to before I left for Clearwater, Fl. 11 miles was my longest run and being sick and not running my body was just not used to it and the legs did not want to go anymore. So the last 1.5 miles were kinda tough and more so the last mile. Even with all the people, music and whopla.. My legs were done.. I crossed the finish line at 2:23, Score! 19 mins faster than last year!! a good new PR and again I think I had a new HR PR, 189!! that's freakn` high!

After the run I got my photo finish with the Showgirl, ya!! and then headed home to eat, shower, change and had back to meet up with Baboo, Miguelvis, and Iron Girl. I did not find Baboo and Miguelvis but I saw IronGirl come in and we proceeded to find the other two. Once finding them it was straight to the house for them to shower and clean up and get ready to head back to Outlaw land.

I was great having them stay with me and being able to enjoy and do the Santa run and next year I am so Doing Elvis!! run.

The rest of the afternoon was just getting some thing ready to head to Miami and packing up. Dinner with the parents and this last min. post before heading to bed.

its BloggerVille n Sin City..

that's right peeps, ... Just in town today is none other than Sweet Baboo, Geekgirl and Miguelvis! Although the weather here in Vegas has been weird, it's Raining, all day! Can you believe that! The New Mexico Outlaws have invaded upon Sin City and de Chateau JohnnyTri.

I hooked up with the Outlaws at the Expo center and packet pickup for the Vegas run on Sunday. After some quick shopping and getting a new pair of Brooks Beasts at a great deal we let to get back to the Chateau, unpack and head off to dinner at P.F. Changs. It was a great meal but just a long wait but it is also Friday night.

After dinner I had to swing the parents house and pick up my Santa suit for the Santa Smack Down 5k tomorrow that Baboo has renamed and of course I had to introduce my parents to the Outlaws. It was a quick greeting and then off to stop at the local Wal-Greens for Baboo to get some secret running MOJO.. humm... Bigun`, I'm takn` careful notes here and watchin` with a keen eye as I think Baboo has some tricks up his sleeve for CdA`.. I'll be watchn`.

Now it was back to the Chateau to settle in, try on our Santa Suits, which was quite funny, (pics to come) and get ready for bed. It was a long day for the Outlaws and although this is Sin City, that never sleeps.. JT had to tuck them in for bed time.

So until the next up date..

PS.. I'm heading to Miami for about 2 weeks for work.. Can you believe that!! It should be fun, tiring I might think with some training thrown in there but stay tuned for that as well.

Hey, its Sin City...and new IMAZ race..

What can I say!! It is certainly no excuse for updating blog but lots and I mean lots has been happening in the JT realm. Once back from blogger tour across da country side it I have still been trying to recover from the damn sore throat, coughing and sickness thingy.. I think today it is finally working it's way outta here.

So Monday I had a follow up interview with this company for some computer design stuff and so I go in interview, again, with some other people and they tell me that they want to teach me some estimating stuff and also use some computer design stuff that I know. They basically say when can you start, Tomorrow? I say sure! So Tuesday it was first day of work and it was a mess but got through it and it was on to the next day where I was supposed to get all these things done which I had to clue what to do, so I did what I knew how and turns out it was not how the project manager wanted it so I had to redo part of it and add some stuff but he wanted done like in 30 mins and that was just not going to happen. So I did what I could and the rest will be done on Monday. So I landed a job and got thrown to da Wolves..!!! awesome, huh.

On other exciting stuff, I have been getting da Chateau de JohnnyTri ready for S. Baboo, GeekGirl and there friend all coming in town next weekend. I have been painting like crazy, buying supplies and trying to get it all done, Lots to do and little time before the crew gets here.

As for training. I have not done S-H-I-T! Mostly due to the cold and sore throat crap but good news, next week some training comes along and we get ready for the 13.1 next Saturday!
Seems last year at this time I had the same thing, some sort of cold BS and no training for 2 or 3 weeks before the run and I went out and had a great time, Just like I will do this year but only more so cuz da Crew will be in town!

I'm back baby!.. well kinda of..

Holy Smokes, what a trip. It might be lengthy but I will get to the point, so let's hit it.

Left Vegas on Weds (a week ago). and flew to H-twn. where I met up with Coach Liz at the airport, there was about an hour layover there and then it was off to Tampa. Got to Tampa with a nice aircraft carrier landing but not to worry all wheels were on the ground. Once outta the airport we picked up the rental pimpn` van and it was off to the townhouse in Clearwater. Being as it was about 8pm it was dark out so could not see too much of Tampa driving out to Clearwater but we found the twn-hse and can you say P-H-A-T! das right, phat!! This place was basically 4 stories with an elevator from the garage to the roof where da hot tub waz! Nice huh. Once scouting out the rooms and dropping our stuff off it was time to get back to the airport to pick up Geoff, it was an out and back trip with a quick stop at the store.

Next morning it was up and adam with blueberry pancakes and eggs by none other than Liz., score! Then it was off to go by at pick up Mitch and David but first we stopped by the first of a couple of expo tents and being as I was driving I dropped liz and geoff off with the intention of finding the registration/packet pickup and NOT hitting any goodies! Right! I was totally PUNK`D on that one as 20 mins later I pick them up and they both proceed to show-n-tell JT all da shit they just bought. Ohhh nelly... now for the next couple of hours JT had sum serious wine and cheese..

After picking up Mitch and David we found the expo and they all got checkn` in. It was a pretty good expo and I ended up with new helmet, pair of socks and long sleeve training shirt. We then dropped everything at the twn-hse. and went to lunch. By this time, Bigun, was on his way and he pick me up from the lunch spot and off we went to his casa.

Once at da hacienda de Bigun/Di it was totally chill time. Bigun was feeling a little sick so we just drank beer, snacked on chips, and Di totally cooked an awesome dinner!! It was so great to hang out with these two and enjoy there company. In the morning I was up before da Bigun had the coffee ready so that gave me time to hit da shower and get ready, then it was joe time and it was some gooood joe! After breakfast Bigun had to get to work and Di took me back to the twn-hse. Once back it was time to go with Liz down to the beach where she had profile interview with NBC TV as a feature athlete. She was basically asked a series of questions and then some pictures were taken and was told they would be shooting footage of her during the race. How cool is that!!

Saturday morning Race Day! I was up with the crew and walked down to body marking. Then they went into transition and I was running all over trying to get pics. I was in a good couple of locations to see the pro's start and as they entered T1 and headed to change tents. After a while when everyone was on the bike I walked back to the twn-hse to watch some coverage via web, get some food and relax for about an hour then I went back down to see the pro's finish and wait for da peeps to come in and head out on the run.

It was a long day and everyone did a great job. Later we went to the award banquet and I was able to sneak in which was great because they were sold out of tickets. It was a great awards presentation and even the parents of the Blazeman places his ashes in the ocean as a tribute, it was pretty awesome! Then it was back to the twn-hse and the peeps were in party mode. We drank for a while and then they hit da hot tub. I was a nice dude and kept refilling the beer while they were rehydrating! During this time there was some pretty funny stories told and some interesting racing tips came out.. as well as a new nick name for Mitch.. aka Sponge Water..!! if you know him, just ask..lol.. Seems like every time there is a group of us.. someone gets a nickname.!

Sunday was pack up time and go home. Got back to Houston in the afternoon, had dinner at Cafe Express, watched Ricky Bobby, too funny and we went to bed.

Monday it was time to hit the road for Dallas as I had a lunch time with Allez and none other than LanceNotStrong! Allez picked a great mexican place and it was great to hang out, meet Lance and just take time off from the road. Once that was over it was back on the road towards Santa Fe, NM. By the time I got there I was not feeling good and thought maybe it was because of all the traveling. Bed time it was once talking with Grandpa.

Tuesday, holy shit, I was sick as a motha` had a fever of 101.5 and was totally wiped out. Gpa got me some medicine and I slept all day long which was good cuz JT's head was pounding like a mike tyson just smackd it before the ear biting days. Fever broke at night and by Wednesday I was feeling much better, enough so to go bowling with Gpa (80yrs.) whipped my ass in 3 straight games! Go Grandpa! Thursday I pretty much rested again all day as the ass whoopn by Gpa had wore me out and I was feeling a little run down.

Friday it was time to head out to go meet Sweet Baboo and Geekgirl. I had to leave Gpa behind and thank him so much for taking care of me, getting food, watching my tv's shows over his and just being a great Grandpa.. I love you Gpa!..

We met for dinner at a great India restaurant and the food was awesome. Now Baboo just came off of Silverman and had to catch the scope on this race as it is in my back yard nowadays. It was great to meet them and talk about the Bigun, (yes, we made fun of you!) and how great of a cook Di is (yes, you cook awesome!) I can't wait for Baboo and Geekgirl to come to Vegas!! I gotta get da house ready! yikes! Thanks for the dinner you two and see ya in a couple of weeks.

I then headed to my cuzins house and spent the night there. Today, it was back on the road and rolled into Sin City once again after a 1500 mile road trip, that's 3000 miles of driving in a month!

So take a look at the pics on the side bar and enjoy! Sunday is recovery time and still trying to shake this last little bit of a cough/cold, sucks!

glad to be back`

training and some Kool Bloggerville stuff!

Today was a long run and a over shot of 1 mile making my planned 10 mile run a 11 mile run. My legs actually felt good till about 9 miles and then I started to feel a little tired but running the 11 was actually a good thing. I set my route for some down hill for the first 2.5 miles and then it was all uphill till about 6 miles and then back down hill for the last 5 which I thought would be a good thing but running some of the down hills proved to be harder than the uphill. But got it done and it's in the bank.

I have been talkn with Sweet Baboo as we were talkn` about the Santa Run coming up here in Vegas and he stated that he was thinking about coming out and then running the Vegas Marathon the next day (you know him, he a maniac!) so it was great to invite him and Geek Girl out to say at Motel de JohnnyTri.. so it looks like da Santa run has become the Blogosphere Santa Smack-down run (per S.Baboo)..Ha! and with that let's see if MoMo will come up, Mo? and who else wanna get in on da Smack-down?

upcoming stuff..

So with the relocation comes new venues and new races to look forward to and train for. So here is a short list of what's on the horizon.

First up will be the Great Santa 5k Run. This happens in downtown Las Vegas and everyone that enters gets a full 5 piece Santa suit and you dress up and run, totally fun. My dad and I were going to do this last year when I was here but I was sick so we skipped it, this actually happens the day before the Las Vegas 1/2 and full marathon. But this year, we are totally in and hopefully will set a record!

Then the following day, as I said, will be the Las Vegas 1/2 marathon for me and dad. This year, im not sick.. so far.. knock knock on wood and am looking for a much better time!

Then as I prepare for the Big IM.. it looks like, with some help from MoMo, the Sedona Marathon will be going down in Feb so I look at running that crazy ass hill climbing marathon..

this weekend I have another friend in from H-twn for another friends wedding but it should not be that crazy.. I hope.. lol.. as I have to get a long run in .. it was supposed to be today but didn't..boo.!!
