Friday check in..

Hey all! Just stopped in really quick to say Hello and its great weather here in Vegas! No big money won so far, and have done probably way too much walking.

Picked up my bib number and t-shirt and packet and what a great Expo at the Mandalay Bay. The family and I have been walking all over and taking pictures so Lot's to report later on.

I hope my diet and the walking doesn't kill me. I haven't been eating that great but drinking lots of water, taking vitamins like crazy and a few corona's here and there and over there and maybe that way too! HaHa..

Race weather looks great, in the mid 40's. Again, being as I am not out to set any land speed or personal records I will enjoy my time walking and taking pictures with the family.

The Grand Canyon and Hoover Dam were totally way cool yesterday..

Flyn Time.Concert recap.

Well as we went to the concert last night, which, by the way was totally excellent! One of the thing that I have always liked about Enrique is that he is very personable with the audience. I have seen many singers and groups and they just come, perform, yell out the town's name there in and then there done. Enrique always seems to take the time, talk with people in the audience, bring people (girls) on stage and just make sure the crowd is always into it. I must tell you about this one part of the concert because if I was a girl I would have been yelling and screaming just like they were, but being as I am not, I really felt for the girl that he picked to be on stage with him. He started by saying to the Band that he was going to do something that they had not done in a while and asked Who what's to come on stage? Like everyone! So he pick this girl down front and the security guards pull her out of the crowd and help her to the stage but as this is happening another girl near the center part of the stage that stuck out into the crowd jumped up there and was trying to pull herself up there while the security was holding on to her legs and pulling her back from the waist and belt region, well, as she is holding on to the other side edge of the stage her jeans began to come down! Yikes! or WhoHoo! Just then Enrique See's this and tells the security to let her on stage and not hurt her. So he begins to help her up and as she stands up her entire ass is completely showing to the audience! No thong, no nothing, just a bare ass, so she is trying to pull her pants up and hold on to Enrique at the same time. Finally, that is all settled and he attempts to walk her to the back of the stage and she doesn't want to go, resisting and pulling back. She says some things in Spanish on the microphone and Enrique tells her that she is being rude and has to go, (way to go Enrique) so she starts to walk to the back with him and then turns and runs back to the center stage where the girl that he picked out is waiting and just stands there only for Enrique to turn and see a 3rd girl standing that who sneaked up on stage from the left side. So he gets a little pissed and tells the security, He security, we might as well just let everyone on stage, anyone who wants to come on stage, come on! So he takes the 3rd girl off the stage and then the ass girl still doesn't want to leave and asks the 1st girl if she can stay instead of her, yeah right, nice wishing though. So Enrique asks the 1st girl and she says NO, You Picked Me First! (the audience yells and cheers) So Enrique says let's take a vote, Who wants the girl I picked to stay on stage? Audience goes crazy cheering! Who wants this girl (the ass girl) to stay on stage? The audience boo's the heck outta her and she has to go!

So when all that mess is over he begins singing Hero. He starts walking towards the girl on stage and beings to sing directly to her, caressing her hair, face, arms and she is going totally bazerk! (This is where I was really glad she stayed and totally could feel for her) So he sang the whole song directly to her. At one point during the song he turned her around to face the stage so she could not see the crowd and could kinda just relax and enjoy it, she began dancing and just groove to the song while he sang right in front of her. Then he turns and walks towards the back of the stage leaving her standing there Center stage by herself. She waves at him, like what am I supposed to do. He waves back to her to turn around and look at the audience. As she does the crowd is screaming and yelling and then they turn the show/house lights up so she can see the entire crowd and then everybody goes really nuts!!! (My thoughts were that he really wanted her to feel and see what he feels and See's while he is up there, pretty cool) Then Enrique comes running from the back and grabs her from behind and hugs her and continues the song (crowd still going nuts!!) She is leaning back on him, with arms up over his head touching him like in a sexy seductive part from 9 1/2 weeks or something! As the song finished he turned her around and totally just kissed her! Can you imagine ladies, your most hotties singer pulling you up on stage, singing to you and letting you grab his butt and kiss you!

So once it was over and my wife finally stopped yelling Oh my God! and grabbing my leg and punching me I was totally thrilled for that girl. It will be a life time experience she will never forget! and the fact that she stood her ground and didn't give it up for the ass girl made it even better because if she had been nice and said OK, she would have regretted it.

So to the girl at the Enrique Concert that got sung HERO to, for that special time, you were a HERO in my Book!

Well being as I am leaving today for Vegas and got home late and still had plenty of things to get ready and this morning as well, I did not get my run in and so I will head to Vegas ready to run and maybe, just maybe take a 2 or 3 mile jog on Friday, but overall I am ready and will have fun running, jogging, walking or crawling to the finish line!

Tonight at the Verison theater is Enrique, so the wife and I are heading down there to start off the weeks vacation in Vegas with a little hometown concert!

The weather is looking great for Vegas and the race and should be a wonderful time. So looking forward to seeing my parents and just hanging out with Mike, a friend from Vegas and of course playing the tourist.

Tomorrow I will head out for a short 7-8 miler before taking off to Vegas, this will be my last run before the 1/2.

Oh and feeling much better today! I think I have just about kicked the stuffy bug. Going to Wal- Greens tonight to get some AirBorne for the family and I before the trip tomorrow!

So the Huskers fell to the Sooners last night in the Big 12 Championship. Congrads to OU for a great game and a win. With Nebraska fumbling the ball on the first drive and OU taking control at the 2yd line and a 1 play for the TD was the start for up hill battle they faced all night. A total of 3 interceptions for the husker quarter back did not help and with the OU offense stacked on there 1/2 yard line, 3 down and 10 and to be able to convert and 7 plays later gain a TD is totally great for them. No one can take that away from there QB who did an outstanding job and can only say that the NU defense got picked apart, sorry guys, I love ya but things happen.

Anyway, after the 21-7 lose NU will play in the Cotton Bowl in Dallas and OU will move on to the Fiesta Bowl.

Enough of that. Today in the 43 degree weather I bundled up and headed out to for a run, the first in almost 2 weeks! It was able to get 4 miles in 48 mins and felt just fine. I felt as if I could have gone 6 or 8 but didn't want to push it just yet as I am still fighting the congestion crap! I can say that the only difficulty I noticed during the run was that my heart rate was higher than I wanted it to be and running at the top of my Z2 and Z3 which is about 156-158. Any time I hit 160 I stopped and walked, I even tried running slower but it seemed difficult to find that comfort level. Overall, a good run. Next run will be Tuesday morning with a 8 miler and than just rest or maybe a 2-3 miler on Thursday morning in Vegas. Not too much running as I know I am going to be doing a lot of walking around the couple of days prior to the run.

Friday..

"Its, Friday, you ain't got no job, you ain't got shit to do.." Hope you know the rest of the line, haha... It's actually cold here in H-town with the temperature this morning at 36* and feels like 28*, that's cold for us Houston folks. Anyway, my friggn cold is still hanging around and I have been on the meds for 2 1/2 days, but I am feeling better with the ear not hurting and the congestion comes and goes with minimal coughing. My ear is still kinda plugged up so when someone talks to me I am like an old grandpa and yell out "eehhh" It's kinda funny at times! Sucks not being able to run though and it's more of a mental challenge I think than anything. So this weekend is the Big 12 Championship game with Nebraska Cornhuskers taking on the Oklahoma Sooners. These two have had there day of rivalries in the past and this shoot out for the Big 12 should be a good one. First off, sorry to all you Sooner fans, I like you before Bob Stoops took over, he's a great coach and did great things for the program but can't stand his arrogance and yelling at the players on the field, just not my still, used to hate it when Steve Spurrier did that down in Florida. Anyway, I have to go with my lovely Huskers who could really use a win being as the change to the west coast offense and could prove that it is working for them. We shall see. So being as the colder weather was here I broke out my totally awesome Nebraska jacket! Picture on the right is a reverse pic in the mirror.

Cough, sniffel, yuk!

Once again all I seem to have gotten sick, actually, I probably was never really over it in the first place and for some reason it is trying to come back and effect my right ear! Damn it, I say! So I got some meds and started taking them yesterday. As for training, well, it has been very little. I got a 4 mile run in on Monday and was planning on hitting 8 on Weds but that didn't happen. So now only 11 days out from the run and flyn out next weds this sucks and makes me a little nervous as far as my run ability. I mean, I feel I have done the distance but it has been a few weeks ago so with being sick just makes me wonder how my run will go, although, I am not going to set any records, just run and see what happens and have tons o fun! Vegas will also be a time to have some fun! My parents live there so along with 8 other family members, oh which, 6 have never been to Vegas, we are going to have some fun and sight see as much as possible. My brother in-law, Gerado, is a huge Roller coaster freak, as I am, so we will be hitting all those over the week, pics to come following. As for now, it's take my meds, get some rest and just relax. I guess I can increase my reading over the next week. Have a great day all.!! Allez, keep working on that knee!!

Running and Toys for Tots ride..

Yesterday was great motorcycle ride for Toys for Tots sponsored by the Blue Knights Galveston chapter. These guys really know how to put on a motorcycle event which totally helps kids! The ride started from Hooters at Nasa Road One on I-45 and went down to The Spot on Galveston seawall.

The ride was very well organized from the aligning of the bikes, to easy registration, to totally blocking all exits on I-45 all the way down to Galveston for all the motorcycles. There were about 350 bikers which strung out for about 3 miles going down the highway, way cool! Here are a few pictures from the ride. A few friends to hang out with and the local Doggy Bar, cant forget about Fido!

So a great big Thank you to the Blue Knights for a Wonderful Toys for Tots Ride! Can't wait till next year!

Now for Today's running. I was able to get 4 miles in without any problems! I still feel stuff but no other problems so running the 4 miles was the start of my last 2 weeks till the Las Vegas 1/2 Marathon. The end of this week it is going to get colder here so I am planning on getting my last long run during the week and just keeping a few shorter runs during the next week.

Gald to hear Allez you are getting better with that pesky knee problem, hang in there and hope to see ya in H-town!

Weekend update.

Well I am finally feeling better, although at times my nose is still congested and makes it difficult to breath but otherwise I feel much better. I still have not ran, since last Saturday. I just didn't want to add stress while trying to recover. So basically I have 14 days left so I will get probably one 10 miler in between now and then and few 6's and 8's and I should be good to go.

What unseasonable weather we are having in late November. It's nice because it makes riding the VTX mush more enjoyable. I rode up to conroe to take a look at a new chiropractic office that is on the market. It was a great ride during the afternoon.

Today, Saturday I am feeling better again with less coughing and stuffiness but not 100%. I will give my self 2 more days and then start back running on Monday.

As for the rest of the weekend tomorrow is a Toy for Tots motorcycle ride down to Galveston. Should be a great ride with about 200-300 riders.

What day is it? Black Wednesday they say..

As my daughter prepares to fly out with her dad and grandparents on this Black Wednesday (that's what the airline people call it) I realize that I will miss her this year for the Thanksgiving holiday. I mean I knew I was going to miss her but saying bye this morning was more of a reality that I felt deep inside that I will not see her during this time, as she will be back on Monday. I have been in her life and her in mine for the last 5 years and seeing her grow up and come into age of a young teenage women is such a wonderful thing to be Thankful for this year!

She has her whole life ahead of her and it's nice to be a part of it and help in her grown process.

I went to court this morning for my 1st traffic citation, yes, I got another about 2 weeks after the first one. So I hired an attorney and went to court this morning where a really nice lady from the law firm named Patty spoke with me and informed me of my options. As I choose to wait it out, which was totally boring for 2 1/2 hours, Patty came back around and told me that the officer was going to dismiss the case but it would have to be reset for another court date, Sounds great to me and beats paying the $195 for 3 months probation. So next court date is April 30, 2007! WTF!... No hurry, huh?

As I get back to the office I see some patients, close out some files and then it's all quite for lunch. My Chinese fortune says "The smart thing is to prepare for the unexpected" Very true.

Well I want to wish Allez, Steven, Wil, Jill, Sarah, and Kat and of course all others a HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

Tuesday...

So yes, I got another little cold bug, yuk! I took yesterday off and probably will take today off as well and see how I feel tomorrow. I also have to goto court for a traffic ticket tomorrow, bummer, but hope to get it dismissed due to lack of no posted speed limit signs which I have taken pictures of the previous 1.2 miles and there is NO Speed Limit Signs. We shall see how it goes.

Wish Allez good luck today as she goes to the doctor to get her knee checked out. Have a great day all and talk with you later..
